Liverpool have recalled Scotland defender Calvin Ramsay from his loan spell at Preston North End.
Lillywhites manager Ryan Lowe confirmed the decision which sees the 20-year-old difficult loan spell end after just two appearances. Ramsay was handed the opportunity to play first-team football with the Championship side, in a bid to step up his fitness from a serious knee injury.
However, issues plagued the former Aberdeen defender during his time in Lancashire as a knee problem ruled him out for almost four months on the eve of the campaign. Ramsay was forced to wait until November for his debut under Liverpool-born manager Lowe against Middlesbrough before earning a starting berth against Queens Park Rangers.

Illness ruled him out further as he missed out on featuring for the Lillywhites during the festive period and has not been in a Preston matchday squad since December 9.
"We've got no information on it yet, but Liverpool are calling him back. We are just waiting on them to officially announce it, but he has gone back to Liverpool yeah," the former Plymouth Argyle manager confirmed, as quoted by the Lancashire Post. Lowe wished Ramsay well as he returns to Merseyside.
He added: "He had been fit. The first time he went back was for a setback, but he trained every day. He came back to us in November time and the last few weeks, when he was available, his fitness was fine.
