Liverpool's search for Jurgen Klopp's successor is continuing to create vast amounts of speculation.

Xabi Alonso has emerged as the early favourite to replace Klopp in the Anfield dugout this summer. The former Reds midfielder is currently thriving as manager of Bayer Leverkusen, with the German club eight points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga.
Another potential candidate to succeed Klopp at Liverpool is Ruben Amorim. The 39-year-old has been manager at Sporting CP since 2020 and won the Primeira Liga title in his first season.

According to Portuguese news outlet Record, Liverpool sent scouts to watch Sporting in action against Benfica in the Taca de Portugal on Thursday night. It has been claimed that the reason for the visit could be to look at several players including Victor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande of Sporting, as well as Joao Neves and Antonio Silva at Benfica.
The article also speculates that Liverpool may also be using the trip as an opportunity to take a closer look at Amorim. The game will see Sporting face local rivals Benfica in the first leg of the Taca de Portugal semi-final.
