Liverpool are set to appeal against Curtis Jones’ red card in their controversial defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Jones was initially shown a yellow card in the 26th minute by referee Simon Hooper after winning a 50/50 challenge with Yves Bissouma, winning the ball only for momentum to see his foot roll over the top and down onto the Malian’s ankle.

The ECHO understands that the original decision was overturned due to Jones’ studs showing and making contact above the ankle - prompting an offence that officials judged to be serious foul play.
Issued with a three-match suspension as a result, the midfielder is currently set to sit out Liverpool’s Premier League matches against Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, and Nottingham Forest.
