With the transfer deadline in Saudi Arabia not until 10pm on Thursday evening, it was anticipated Al-Ittihad would return with another offer in excess of £200m.
However, they stepped away from aggressively pursuing Salah once it became clear Liverpool had no intention of allowing the player to leave, particularly given there was insufficient time to recruit a replacement.
The Saudi Pro League, though, remain keen on making Salah a landmark signing and are keen to ensure good relations with Liverpool in the expectation of another attempt to sign the player next summer when he will be entering the final 12 months of his contract.
Salah has had a strong start to the season with two goals and two assists in Liverpool's opening four Premier League games, with Reds boss Klopp last week commending the commitment of the Egyptian despite the ongoing speculation over his future.
