Football monetary expert Nick Harris believes Manchester City’s achievements are under question following Everton’s 10-point deduction.
An independent commission sided with the Premier League to inflict the most severe sporting punishment in the competition’s history. The Blues were found guilty of breaching profit and sustainability rules over a three-year period, plunging them into the relegation zone despite a positive run of form in recent weeks.
Much of the post-verdict aftermath centred around Man City, who earlier this year were charged by the Premier League with more than 100 alleged breaches of its financial between between 2009 and 2018.

The case will also be reviewed by an independent commission and, given City's success on the field in that period, questions are being asked about the legitimacy of their honours. Any ruling against the current champions will be scrutinised heavily on Merseyside given Everton’s verdict and Liverpool being their main rival throughout that period.
Speaking to The Rest Is Football podcast, financial specialist Harris told Alan Shearer that, if found guilty, asterisks would be placed against Man City's achievements. He said: “The big acid test, and it's been hanging over the game for five years, is what happens with Manchester City? Are they completely innocent as they claim? Or have they in fact been cooking the books systematically for a decade or more, up to 2018?
