A guaranteed starter at Inter Milan and one of the two major candidates to be Olivier Giroud’s successor for Les Bleus, Marcus Thuram (26) has said that he is enjoying the “best period of [his] career”.
Thuram moved to Inter Milan from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer last summer. Placed alongside Lautaro Martinez, the Frenchman is enjoying his first season in Italy, as he spearheads a team that are destined for the league title.
The Nerazzurri currently hold a 14-point lead over their closest challenger and fiercest rival, AC Milan. With 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season, Thuram has played a significant role in the club’s success. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he has now said that he is in the best form of his career so far.
“Yes, I feel that I’m in the best period of my career. I’m playing at Inter, we’re first in the league and we aspire to win it,” said Thuram, who is hoping to feature for Les Bleus in the upcoming friendlies against Germany and Chile. Whilst Giroud will be expected to lead the line in Germany later this year, Thuram will be hoping to state his claim for the No.9 jersey going forward.
