Mauricio Pochettino says it is not his responsibility to solve Romelu Lukaku’s situation but refused to rule out his plight changing.
Lukaku is out in the cold and training with Chelsea’s under-21s after making it clear he wants to leave following his return from loan at Inter Milan last season.
But there has yet to be a taker for Lukaku with just a week remaining in the transfer window.
He burned his bridges with Inter by agreeing to join their rivals Juventus but they would need to offload their striker Dusan Vlahovic in order to sign Lukaku though Chelsea are not keen on the Serbian.
Chelsea wanted Lukaku to join the exodus of players from Stamford Bride to Saudi Arabia earlier in the summer though he did not want to make such a move.
Pochettino said of Lukaku, a then club record £97.5m signing two years ago: ‘If the player and the club’s wish is to find a solution, it's not me, it's them.
‘In that case, the player and the club will meet and inform to me that things changed. I'm not going to move until the club or the player want to talk with me.
'I am here, I accept the situation that was here when I arrived. We arrived on the 3rd of July and knew the situation.
‘The future can change things. Life can change. I saw [Liverpool manager Jurgen] Klopp say I'm not going to be in this business when we should pay £100million.
'And then they offered £100million and he said "Oh, I made a mistake". That is the same situation.
'In football, the dynamic is fast and changes and we need to move on. Today, nothing has changed. If something changes we will adapt to the situation?
