The Portuguese contingent at Lille continues to grow. Les Dogues have announced the signing of 20-year-old full-back Tiago Santos, who becomes the club’s first signing of the summer.
The Sporting Club youth product has signed from Estoril, where he made 30 appearances in the top flight last season, contributing six assists as the team finished in 14th place. He had joined the Cascais-based club’s reserve side 18 months ago from the Sporting academy, and soon imposed himself in the first team.
Santos, an evidently attack-minded right-back, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 outfit. He joins several compatriots in the north of France – namely fellow defender Tiago Djaló, and his future manager in Paulo Fonseca.
The moves comes shortly after the sale of Timothy Weah to Juventus, with the US international having been primarily used as a wing-back by Fonseca in his first season in charge.
