Chelsea may well be thanking Gareth Southgate after he left Cole Palmer on the bench during England's 2-2 draw with Belgium on Tuesday. The Blues forward will now be clear to prepare for taking on Burnley with his club on Saturday without any problems.
Palmer had missed the first friendly of the international break through a minor knock that he arrived at the camp with, not being included in the squad that lost to Brazil on Friday. He was selected at Wembley for the final friendly of the season but didn't make it onto the field.
It leaves Mauricio Pochettino with the all-clear to make plans for taking on Vincent Kompany's side with a near-fully fit attack. Although questions remain over some of the members that returned to the camp early, Chelsea are gearing up for a steady return to Premier League football.
