Porto dealt major injury blow ahead of Arsenal Champions League clash

Porto have confirmed that star striker Mehdi Taremi is an injury doubt heading into their Champions League clash against Arsenal.

The Gunners travel to the Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday night for the first leg of their last-16 tie. Arsenal were the winners of Group B in the competition while Porto finished runners-up to Barcelona in Group H.

Arsenal go into the fixture looking to win the prestigious cup competition for the first time in the club's history. The Gunners have only reached the final once previously and have not got past the last-16 stage since 2009/10 when they reached the quarter-final.

Heading into the game, Porto have confirmed their latest injury report that contains updates on key players. One of the most notable is Taremi, who has scored six goals in 25 appearances this season, including two in the Champions League.

Porto have confirmed that Taremi suffered an injury to his adductor in his right thigh during Sunday's training session. As a result, the 31-year-old has undergone treatment and it remains to be seen if he will be available to face Arsenal.

The update also confirmed that Goncalo Ribeiro, Marcano and Zaidu are also dealing with injuries. Like with the update on Taremi, there is no word on whether or not any of the trio will be available to feature against the Gunners on Tuesday night.

Taremi last featured for Porto on February 12 against Arouca in the Portuguese top-flight contest. The striker recently returned from starring for Iran at the Asian Cup, but was an unused substitute for Porto on Saturday in the 2-0 win
