Premier League (PL) club Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez will miss remaining games of the season after undergoing a surgery, the club announced on Thursday (Apr 25). Fernandez had suffered hernia in December last year and has undergone groin surgery for the same. The midfielder had started during 5-0 loss against Arsenal on Tuesday (Apr 24) but will sit out the next six games.
«Enzo Fernandez has today undergone successful surgery on a groin issue and will now begin a period of rehabilitation, sidelining him for the remainder of Chelsea's 2023-24 season,» Chelsea said in a statement.
«The 23-year-old midfielder will work with the club's medical department on his rehabilitation at Cobham,» the statement further added.

It is a crucial blow for Chelsea who are ninth in the points-table with 13 wins, eight draws and 11 losses in 32 games played so far. They face fourth-place Aston Villa next week.
Fernandez's injury comes as a blow to his country Argentina as well which will be hoping for the midfielder to get fit ahead of Copa America tournament in June-July later this year.

Dutch club Feyenoord coach Arne Slot has confirmed that his club is in talks with Liverpool for his potential transfer. This comes after Liverpool identified Slot to replaced Jurgen Klopp who'll be leaving the club after the ongoing season.
Slot spoke about the negotiations ahead of Feyenoord's game on Thursday (Apr 25) and said: «The only thing I can say about it is that the clubs are in negotiations. And then you sit in the waiting room and wait for what will come out.»
