Diogo Jota should not have been sent off during Liverpool's controversial 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday, according to the Premier League's Independent Key Match Incidents Panel.
Jota was shown two yellow cards in quick succession for incidents involving Destiny Udogie, with the first booking the Liverpool forward received coming after there appeared to be no contact with the Spurs full-back.
After his first booking, Jota was shown a second yellow card for a lunge on Udogie less than 120 seconds later, with referee Simon Hooper quick to brandish a second yellow card in the Portugal international's direction.

However, according to a new report by ESPN, five members of the Premier League's Independent Key Match Incidents Panel voted in favour, 3-2, that Jota should not have been shown a second yellow card. The report is said to have labelled the decision as "incorrect" and believe the 69th-minute lunge "did not meet the threshold for a yellow card".
Jota's dismissal saw Liverpool reduced to nine men after Curtis Jones had been shown a red card in the first half for a challenge on Yves Bissouma, which Hooper had upgraded from a yellow card after a consultation with the Video Assistant Referee. On Tuesday, Liverpool's appeal to have Jones' three-match ban overturned was rejected by the Football Association.
