Goals from Amadou Onana and Michael Keane ensured that the Toffees moved further away from the bottom three and reclaimed the 10 points that the team were docked earlier in the season. It was also Everton’s fourth clean sheet in a row, which would have delighted Sean Dyche on his return to Turf Moor.
Their latest three points leaves the Blues are seven points clear of the relegation zone. However, in reality, Everton have picked up 26 points so far this term, which would see them level with eighth-placed Brighton.
Following the final whistle in Lancashire, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp and former Everton midfielder Izzy Christiansen were quick to give Dyche and his players their plaudits. Redknapp highlighted that, in an ordinary season, Everton would have started to be viewed as contenders to qualify for European football.

“If they didn’t have that 10-point deduction, we’d probably be talking about them pushing for Europe,” he explained. “That’s how well they’re playing. They’re so well-organised, they know what they’re doing.
“They’re in a fantastic position right now - the manager, the players - and they’re playing with a great energy. You can see the confidence and belief in everything they’re trying to do right now.”
While many outside observers, and perhaps even Everton supporters, would claim that the points deduction has been the catalyst for the Toffees’ upturn in form, it should not diminish how impressive the team has
