Real Madrid have released a statement denying claims they have been in talks with PSG forward Kylian Mbappe amid plenty of transfer rumours. It comes as the Frenchman is nearing the final few months of his contract in the French capital as part of a huge ongoing saga.
Mbappe has continually been linked with a move to Madrid, but time after time he has seemingly shut down that switch by signing a new deal. His latest extension was running until 2025, but that was including a one-year extension that the player himself had to trigger.
It was revealed earlier this year that the forward hadn't triggered the extension and as a result, he is actually a free agent next summer. PSG made their move to block off an exit for free, at first suggesting that either a new contract was signed or there would be a transfer signed off.
That didn't occur and the hierarchy did their best to put some pressure on, going as far as dropping him from the first-team to start with. A return did follow and as of the closing of the window, it seemed to put the transfer story to rest for now, but the January market is fast approaching.
Clubs abroad can land a pre-contract deal for Mbappe as of January, with Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea amongst a whole host of teams reported to be showing interest. However, it's been the Spanish side that have been continually reported as being in talks with the forward.
