Bellingham received his marching orders after scoring late on at Mestalla.
Real Madrid players have taken to social media after their team had a goal ruled out in the club’s 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday night.
With the sides level at Mestalla deep into injury time, Los Blancos thought they had scored the winning goal when Jude Bellingham headed home, only for referee Gil Manzano to blow the whistle for full-time as Brahim Díaz’s cross from the right was sent into the box.
Madrid players and staff members ran onto the field and surrounded referee as they protested seconds after the final whistle. Bellingham then received a red card for his own protests at Mestella. Goalscorer Vinícius as well as midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni took to social media soon after to make their feelings clear.
Speaking to the media post-match, Valencia forward Hugo Duro admitted that he was surprised by the referee’s decision on the night. “I understand why Real Madrid are angry. You should either blow the whistle before the cross or after the cross. I don’t understand why it took the ref so long to blow it.”
