ARSENAL showed their never-say-die spirit once again to come back from the dead and score twice in the final 13 minutes to preserve their unbeaten record and move to second in the table.
Declan Rice scored on his return to the club where he started his career as a schoolboy, and Leandro Trossard equalised in the 84th minute to give the Gunners a valuable point.
But at one point it looked like Chelsea were on course for a third-successive league win after they took the lead with a 15th-minute Cole Palmer penalty and then went 2-0 ahead early in the second half with a remarkable goal from Mykhailo Mudryk.
The Ukrainian's goal was either a stroke of genius or a fluke, whichever way you look at his 48th minute strike. It certainly silenced those Arsenal fans who have taunted him mercilessly since he turned down the Gunners in favour of Chelsea ten months ago.
The Ukrainian looked destined for north London last January until a sudden change of heart took him to Chelsea, where he struggled for form and fitness, much to the amusement of some Arsenal fans who felt let down. But they were not laughing when Mudryk put Chelsea 2-0 ahead just after half-time in a pulsating London derby.
When he was given time and space by a less-than-solid Arsenal defence three minutes into the second half, he spotted the erratic David Raya off his line and flicked a left-footed shot up and over the keeper from wide on the left.
Some observers saw it as as a brilliant piece of improvisation, others thought it was a mis-hit cross that ended up in the net. Either way, it should have given Chelsea the cushion they needed to see off Arsenal, only for the Gunners to come back strongly and gain a point they deserved for their late
