Cristiano Ronaldo is an influential figure in the world of football. The current Saudi Arabian Al Nassr player compared the league in which he plays to Ligue 1, despite not having played a single year in France.
"I think the Saudi Arabian League is better than Ligue 1. I don't care, they can say whatever they want," said the Portuguese star at the Globe Soccer Awards gala in Dubai on Friday.
The Al Nassr star said it is "more competitive" and that he can say that "after spending a year" there. "I think the Saudi Pro League will be among the top three leagues in the world. People in Arabia will be proud," he added.
"Criticism? I had a difficult time last year, but I like to prove the doubters wrong. This year I was the top scorer, ahead of young beats like Haaland and Mbappe," he argued.
Another of the topics he discussed, despite no longer playing there, is favouritism in the Champions League: "Manchester City have a good chance of winning it again. The favourites? Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern...".
