Roy Hodgson is set to step down as Crystal Palace boss after being taken to hospital with Oliver Glasner is ready to take over from him.
Hodgson was feeling unwell during a training session but is now stable. Steve Parish, the Palace chairman, was with Hodgson when he was taken to hospital. It's expected that Hodgson will leave his job for the last four months of his contract and Glasner will replace him.
Glasner led Frankfurt to the Europa League in 2022 and might be confirmed as the next Eagles boss before Monday's game at Everton. However, it's unlikely he'll take charge. Hodgson's assistants Ray Lewington and Paddy McCarthy have been training the players this week. Even before Hodgson's health scare, his future was uncertain. The Eagles lost again on Monday night when Chelsea scored two late goals. Some reports suggest that this loss was the final straw for Parish, who sees Glasner as his top choice.
Last year, Ipswich Town's boss Kieran McKenna, who helped the Tractor Boys get promoted, was thought about for the job before the Eagles went with the Europa League champ. This champion has now bagged a deal worth around £4.5m a season until 2026, with the chance of extending it for another year.
