Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has paid tribute to Roy Hodgson after it was confirmed on Monday that he had left Crystal Palace.
Hodgson was taken ill last Thursday and was subsequently assessed. He has since left hospital and is "doing well". The ex-Reds boss has now announced his decision to step down from his position at Selhurst Park, paving the way for Oliver Glasner to become the Eagles' new coach.
The 76-year-old is unlikely to return to management following his second stint at Palace, though he will be fondly remembered by many for his efforts over the years. Carragher worked under the ex-England boss at Liverpool during the 2010/11 season and is full of respect for Hodgson, despite his Anfield reign not going to plan.

"Roy is unique in a number of ways," Carragher told Sky Sports. "Another thing that makes him unique is not only managing at 76 years of age in the Premier League, which is phenomenal he's coaching at that age.
"I know from my own experience at Liverpool and last season when he came in with that miraculous job to keep Crystal Palace in the Premier League, he's still on that training pitch day in and day out."
Sharing a personal message with Palace supporters to confirm his decision to move on from Selhurst Park, Hodgson said: “This club is very special and means so much to me and has played a big part in my footballing life.
