Crystal Palace confirm second departure after Oliver Glasner replaces Roy Hodgson
Crystal Palace have confirmed that assistant manager Ray Lewington is leaving after appointing Oliver Glasner as their new head coach.
Roy Hodgson left his job as manager on Monday. Shortly after, Palace announced that Oliver Glasner, who used to be in charge at Eintracht Frankfurt, would replace the 76-year-old.
On Wednesday, the club shared that Lewington is also leaving Selhurst Park. Steve Parish, Palace chairman, told the club's website: «Ray holds a prominent place in the heart of every Crystal Palace supporter and I would like to thank him for his tremendous service.
»As well as his superb coaching, we will all miss Ray's infectious positivity, patience and enthusiasm all of which he displayed every matchday from the sidelines.
«We would like to wish Ray all the very best for the future he knows that he will always be welcome back at Selhurst Park.»
Lewington worked as a coach at Palace under Alan Smith in the 1994-95 season and helped Steve Coppell when Palace got into the Premier League again two years later. After being the caretaker manager for a stint in 1998, Lewington went to Brentford.

He then joined Hodgson at Fulham and England before coming back to Selhurst Park with him in 2017. Lewington said: «I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club, I am very grateful to all the staff and players I have worked with over several seasons.
»I have enjoyed every minute of my time here and I wish the club the very best of luck for the rest of this season, and beyond."
