Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman watch Wrexham prove they’re League One ready with revenge win over rivals

Wrexham's brilliant FA Cup run continues and the win over Shrewsbury meant a lot to the fans.

The Welsh side booked their place in the fourth round of the cup with a 1-0 win over rivals Shrewsbury, with the only goal coming from Thomas O'Connor.

Co-owner Ryan Reynolds was watching the game form afar with Hugh Jackman, posting a picture of the pair on social media.

Wrexham are flying high in League Two, occupying the third promotion place currently.

And their victory over League One Shrewsbury firmly suggests they are more than comfortable competing with teams at the next level.

Manager Phil Parkinson told talkSPORT: “(It was) very pleasing. They’re an established League One side, they’ve been there for eight years. First half, they pressed high and we put the ball at risk a couple of times and caused our own problems. 

“But I thought we grew into the game and once their energy went out of their press, we got good control in the game, got the goal, searched for the second. 

“It wasn't until the last few minutes that they had a couple of half-chances, but we probably deserved that look today with the manner of our performance."

The game meant more to the fans too, with a victory over rivals acknowledged by Parkinson.
