Sean Dyche facing striker and right-back decisions for Everton vs Newcastle United
Dominic Calvert-Lewin could return to lead the line for Everton against Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Thursday after Beto missed his big chance to impress in the 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.
After starting nine matches in a row, Calvert-Lewin was absent for Saturday evening’s trip to the City Ground with a minor calf issue. However, manager Sean Dyche said afterwards that the centre-forward was “touch and go” and “as long as he has come through this weekend he has got a good chance for later in the week.”
Although Calvert-Lewin’s understudy Beto worked hard in the number nine’s absence, the Portuguese player squandered an inviting opportunity to grab his first Premier League goal in the first half when he fired over the bar after home keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos spilled the ball under pressure from Dwight McNeil.

Calvert-Lewin – now one of just four Everton players to have scored 50 Premier League goals – has netted on five occasions against the Magpies in the past so Dyche could be tempted to recall him for the first of a Goodison double header over the space of four days.
Amadou Onana might have less chance of returning in central midfield with the Blues boss responding “maybe not” when asked about the Belgium international for the visit of Eddie Howe’s side, but James Garner and Idrissa Gueye were both impressive in that area against Forest.
Arnaut Danjuma might hope he gets a chance on the wing but although Jack Harrison struggled to make an impact for a long time, he ultimately helped himself to another assist.
