Joe Thomas - Caution over Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Beto starts up top for me. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the main man but he is so important I would be happy if the caution over his return extended tonight. I also think Beto will only develop his understanding of the Premier League and his team-mates’ intuition with competitive minutes and Saturday showed Everton can win with Calvert-Lewin absent.
Beyond that there is little to think too much about. Amadou Onana’s calf issue means the midfield three remains the same and Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison combined for the winner at Nottingham Forest, meaning it is tough to argue Arnaut Danjuma should force his way in. That leaves right-back as the only talking point.
I’m still in the belief that Nathan Patterson is unlucky not to have had a recent chance but, after a clean sheet in another away win, Ashley Young keeps his place.
