Joe Thomas - Patterson plays in the same system
Nathan Patterson starts for me. He played well at Burnley and I think he deserves a run in the team. His chances should be helped by the injuries suffered by Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman. Even if they are both ready to return, there is no need to rush them.
The big question is what to do should Vitalii Mykolenko be absent again. Ben Godfrey could move to left back or Dwight McNeil could stay in the left wing back role he occupied on Saturday.
I’d be tempted to keep the same formation and bring in Jarrad Branthwaite as the third centre back for Godfrey and keep McNeil where he is. Fulham have twice won at Goodison this season and both saw them exploit a back four down the sides - including one that featured Godfrey at full back. Maybe a change of approach will help. A back five would also take the pressure off trying to find wingers if McNeil drops slightly back.
