The American full-back will wait until the end of the season with PSV to determine his future
Sergino Dest is in the final months of his loan spell with PSV Eindhoven, and if the Dutch club do not exercise their option to buy him, the American defender would have to return to Barcelona, a situation he considers complicated as long as Xavi is still in charge.
In an interview for Voetbal International,Dest made it clear that ifPSV do not buy him,he would have to return to Los Cules in the summer.
"Xavi is still there. So, for the moment, no, it will be too difficult," Dest detailed to Voetbal International.
If PSV want to, they can exercise their option to buy him for just over $10 million at the end of the season and keep the player, although there is also the alternative of finding a move elsewhere. However, the USMNT international prefers to wait until the end of the Eredivisie campaign.
"Barcelona, PSV and I have something to say about it. It's too early now, but it will be discussed at the end of the season," he continued.
«Maybe I'll stay, maybe I'll go, but we don't have to decide that yet.»
PSV Eindhoven are on a perfect domestic run through 17 rounds with 51 points, 12 more than Feyenoord, as well as being the best attacking team with 59 goals and the best defensive unit with just seven goals conceded.
The 23-year-old American full-back had suffered a career stagnation in the 2022-2023 season. Xavi did not count on him and urged him to find a new team. Dest was loaned out to Milan, but made just 14 appearances and was unable to establish himself as an important player for the Rossoneri.
This season, his loan seems to be going in a very different direction and he is getting enough minutes to polish himself as a player.
