Arsenal have been sent a clear message about where they need to strengthen ahead of the summer transfer window. The Gunners' fans have identified the forward line as the position most in need of reinforcements.
It was a quiet January for Mikel Arteta's side. After a summer in which they spent north of £200million on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya, Arsenal found themselves heavily restricted by Premier League profit and sustainability regulations. This meant that the only permanent transfer to happen involving a first team player was the termination of Runar Alex Runarsson's contract to facilitate his move to FC Copenhagen.
That's not to say that Arsenal couldn't have done with more. The Gunners have been dominant in so many of the game they've played this season, but for much of it they've lacked a killer instinct in front of goal. Arteta's men are the best in the Premier League when it comes to goals conceded but rank just sixth for goals scored.
Gabriel Jesus has struggled for fitness at times, Kai Havertz has failed to regularly find the net, while Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah have mostly played bit part roles. The Gunners are comfortably underperforming their expected goals, unlike title rivals Manchester City who are 4.70 goals above where they should be (as per understat).
