In an interview with Téléfoot, Ibrahima Konaté (24) expressed his shock at the confirmation of Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool at the end of the season.
In January, the Liverpool manager confirmed that he would be departing Anfield at the end of the 2023/24 season – ending a 9-year spell with the Reds. Undoubtedly, the announcement was a shock and Konaté was evidently of the same mind. When asked about one thing that struck him the most this season, he responded, “In truth, the departure of Klopp struck me the most, I think.”
Klopp was one of the men responsible for bringing Ibrahima Konaté to Anfield and his development at Liverpool under the German has been impressive. Liverpool signed the 24-year-old centre back from RB Leipzig for a fee of £36m in 2021. The former Leipzig defender earned his first call-up to the France squad and has affirmed himself as a regular for Les Bleus since joining Liverpool.
