Xabi Alonso continues to be linked with an Anfield return as Liverpool search for their Jurgen Klopp successor.
The Spaniard was a fan favourite during his time on Merseyside as a player and could make a fairytale comeback to the club he represented between 2004 and 2009 to become the new first-team manager.
Liverpool supporters are of course already familiar with the 42-year-old from his playing days, though less is known regarding the team supporting Alonso's push for Bundesliga glory this season.

Marcel Daum (assistant coach, analysis): A boyhood Leverkusen fan, Daum accepted the responsibility of becoming the club's chief analyst ahead of the 2018/19 season. He has enjoyed previous experience in similar roles at fellow German clubs FC Koln and Eintracht Frankfurt. His one opportunity at international level arose at Romania, which lasted for one year between 2016 and 2017.
Simon Lackmann (first-team analyst): Beginning his Leverkusen career back in 2009, Lackmann joined the club as a video analyst and now supports the work being overseen by Daum. His contract is set to expire this summer, meaning he would be able to follow Alonso to Anfield with no issues.
