Thierry Henry reckons Jurgen Klopp's impending exit from Liverpool 'tells a story' about top level management – as even the greats need a break from the relentless pressure.
The German will leave Anfield at the end of this season, almost nine years on from taking the job, and departs as one of the greatest managers in the club's history. He's won all there is to win and took them from also-rans struggling to qualify for the Europa League to champions of England and Europe. Klopp currently has the Reds top of the Premier League and is hoping to end on a high but will go out to a standing ovation either way.
The 56-year-old put his exit down to simply not having enough in the tank to continue and Henry reckons that's no surprise. He likens it to Pep Guardiola taking some time out of the game before joining Manchester City while current Barcelona boss Xavi is also stepping down.
And Henry believes all three cases tell the story about how difficult life is at the top. His message to Klopp is simply: 'Good for you’. He said on CBS Sports: “Pep was at Barcelona, took a sabbatical year. Klopp is at Liverpool, is stopping. Xavi is at Barcelona, he is also stopping. Three great clubs.
“That’s a dream job normally and they are stopping. That tells you a story. The pressure, everybody has a voice, social media and whatnot. It is tough to be a manager and no one cares about you. You’re going to have to take care of yourself at one point.
