Brentford fans will be hoping there is even more to come from Sergio Reguilon between now and May after an excellent start to life in west London. Joining the Bees on loan from Tottenham in the middle of January, the Spaniard's switch to the Gtech Community Stadium is his second loan move of the season having played for Manchester United in the first part of the campaign.
Whereas his move to Old Trafford didn't actually go as he may have planned after limited game time despite a left-back injury crisis, the 27-year-old will be intent on getting his career back on track at Brentford after such a frustrating past 18 months with injury drastically limiting his minutes in the 2022/23 season. Debuting for the Bees off the bench in a 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest but unfortunately not able to feature in their next game against parent club Tottenham, Reguilon impressed on his first start against Man City last Monday.
Although the champions won the game 3-1, Brentford caused them a host of problems with Reguilon very much a threat from the left flank. Operating as a left wing-back for Thomas Frank's side, the role suits the ex-Real Madrid man down to the ground as it allows him to try and influence things going forward and that could help Brentford in their quest to maintain their top-flight status.
Brentford did give themselves a bit more breathing space at the bottom of the league on Saturday afternoon after recording a fine 2-0 win away at Wolves. The Spaniard once again played his part for his new club, notably teeing up Christian Norgaard for the opener with an inswinging corner that the Dane converted from point-blank range.
