Ultimate indie festival coming to Merseyside town as promise made

A huge festival of independent music is coming to a Merseyside town.

Following a successful first year, Birkenhead Live returns in 2024 with 30 artists and bands performing across two days this summer. It will take place at live music and cultural space Future Yard on Argyle Street.

The acts will perform across the venue’s outdoor and indoor stages on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th August. The first eight names were announced this week.

They are Tom A. Smith, The Covasettes, Stanleys, Delights, Lissy Taylor and The Rosadocs. Liverpool artists Fiona Lennon, who performed at the On The Waterfront music festival last year, and The Heavy North have also been announced for the event.

Birkenhead Live was started in 2023 by concert promoters Sucker Presents. In its debut year, the festival saw headline performances by UK number 1 band The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club and Skinny Living, as well as Rianne Downey, Andrew Cushin and many more.

Organiser Luke Joynes said: “Those who have been to Future Yard in Birkenhead will know how good a venue it is and how important it is to the local community. This event is going to be a real celebration of emerging talent in the UK, performing alongside some of the hottest artists coming out of Wirral at the moment."

Birkenhead Live will take place on Saturday August 10 and Sunday August 11. Tickets are priced at £21.50 for Saturday and £39.50 for Sunday. There’s 15 bands each day, so 30 bands in total. Attendees have been promised they won’t miss any performances as there are no clashes.
