Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has said there is «no point» looking at the Premier League table following the Reds' 4-1 win over Luton Town. Liverpool moved to 60 points and lead Manchester City in second by four points, while Arsenal are in third with 55 points.
Jurgen Klopp's side have played one game more than their title rivals, however. Van Dijk scored a header to equalise on Wednesday night after Chiedozie Ogbene's early goal. Despite missing 10 first-team regulars due to injuries, Klopp's side secured their seventh win in eight Premier League games. This was after Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez joined the growing injury list before Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
Van Dijk was thrilled with Liverpool's «outstanding» response. «With all the difficulties we had and the changes we had to make, it was always going to be a tough game,» said the Reds skipper. «Nobody was really satisfied with that first half. We were too much in a rush, especially in the final third. We rushed it a little bit and didn't find the last pass.
