Virgil van Dijk says Joe Gomez's England recall is deserved as the Liverpool captain backed him to take his chance and become part of this summer's European Championships.
Gomez has excelled for Jurgen Klopp's team this term, playing in four different positions in total, filling in across all three defensive spots while operating as a holding midfielder in the FA Cup victory over Southampton last month and the Premier League win at Nottingham Forest on March 2.

The Reds skipper also revealed how he and team-mate Ibrahima Konate told Gomez not to book any late-March holidays due to an expected phone call from Three Lions boss Southgate as a result of his form.
