Mohamed Salah was seen in good spirits after Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Ghana last night despite being forced off with a hamstring injury.
The Liverpool forward went down clutching the back of his left leg shortly before half-time in the Africa Cup of Nations group game, having pulled up after bursting forward during an Egyptian counter-attack.
Down on his haunches before lying on his back while receiving on-field treatment, the 31-year-old quickly passed over the captain’s armband to Ahmed Hegazi as it became clear he would not be able to continue.
Mohamed Salah injury latest as Egypt boss provides update on Liverpool star
I was stupid to join Liverpool - it's my fault I flopped but I still don't know why they never gave me a chance
However, the injury did not prevent Salah from watching the second half from the dugout as the two nations fought out an entertaining stalemate. The forward was then seen in good spirits when walking through the mixed zone after the match.
While he did not stop for interview, he was all-smiles as he walked without a limp. Seemingly not in serious discomfort, the footage, captured by Pulse Ghana, will be a relief to nervous Liverpool and Egypt fans.
Egypt manager Rui Vitoria revealed it was too early to say how serious Salah’s injury was when speaking post-match, but confirmed he did not think it was ‘dangerous’.
"I hope not (a big problem). We don’t know yet what the problem is,” he said. “I hope it’s not a big problem but it was a problem in the first-half.
"It was difficult timing for us because in the second half, we could only make two substitutions. But now, I don't know. It's early to see something, I think it’s not dangerous but let’s see if Salah recovers."
