Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has confirmed he has already begun his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury he suffered at the Africa Cup of Nations last week — and insisted he will «do everything possible to be ready as soon as possible».
The Liverpool forward is expected to be out of action until mid-February after suffering a hamstring injury in Egypt's 2-2 draw with Ghana last Thursday. After discussions between the Egyptian FA and Anfield chiefs, it was decided he would return to Merseyside to begin his recovery instead of remaining in Ivory Coast — where the finals are being held.
As a result, both the 31-year-old and Liverpool came in for some stern criticism from sections of the Pharaohs' camp as manager Rui Vitoria voiced his displeasure at Jurgen Klopp and Salah's advisor, Ramy Abbas Issa, for speaking out about the forward's injury arrangments before the release of an official statement from the Egyptian FA. Some publications in his homeland even questioned Salah's commitment to the national team.
However, Salah brushed off the criticism when taking to social media on Thursday afternoon and revealed it had always been agreed that his rehabilitation would be overseen by Liverpool's medical team back on Merseyside. The forward, who has scored 14 goals and helped the Reds to the top of the Premier League this season, also hinted that he could be back sooner than scheduled, proving his loyalty to Egypt.
