Adam Sandler has been spotted in attendance at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's clash against Newcastle United. The American actor will watch on from the stands as the Blues welcome the Magpies in what is poised to be a crucial tie in the race for European qualification.
Sandler was previously spotted in attendance at a Chelsea game 15 years or so ago when the Blues locked horns with Fulham. Following his appearance at the west London derby, the Hollywood star told a local radio station how he got his hands on some tickets.
«My friend opened the newspaper and saw an ad for the game,» said Sandler, as quoted by Tribal Football. «He said 'do you want to go to a soccer game', I said, 'yeah that's a great idea, I've never been to one'.
»So we all went there and they were really nice, we were at Fulham v Chelsea and it was at an old-style venue [Craven Cottage]. We sat in the Chelsea section and the tunes were rocking! I couldn't believe how great everyone was singing, on key.
«It was rough men singing gently,» added Sandler. «It was an excellent experience; I want to learn more and more. I kept asking questions, 'how many teams are in the league?', 'how many games?', until I was told to shut up!»
Sandler has been in London this week, having not been nominated for an Oscar at this year's Academy Awards. He was spotted playing basketball at Kensington Leisure Centre, with fans left baffled by his apeparance, and it seems he's decided to take advantage of Chelsea being at home again while he's in the city.
Will Ferrell is another Hollywood star who's frequently visited Stamford Bridge. The Los Angeles FC co-owner was seen posing alongside John Terry ahead of Chelsea's pre-season friendly against Inter Milan in 2009 at the Rose Bowl
