One of the world's greatest classical musicians has praised Liverpool as he looks to make his return to the city.
Ludovico Einaudi's beautiful compositions have struck a chord with audiences across the globe and he has enjoyed a legendary career in the industry. The 67-year-old went back to his roots last year as he released Underwater, his first solo piano album in 20 years, which he performed live in an acclaimed run at London's Albert Hall.
However, Ludovico is eager to bring his music to UK crowds beyond the Capital and he handpicked a number of venues across the country to play a select few dates for a limited tour later this month. The piano maestro will arrive at the M&S Bank Arena for a concert on October 22 - and he told the ECHO why he made sure there was a Merseyside leg on the tour.

He said: "The Beatles is the music I grew up with so I have a very strong connection and sentimental connection with the musical heritage of Liverpool. I recorded some music in the Philharmonic Hall and I have many nice memories of things that I have done there.
"I always like the vibe of the city." The upcoming concert marks the first time Ludovico will grace the stage at the M&S Bank Arena, but the pianist will be in familiar territory as he regularly sells out arenas and large concert halls.
