Xabi Alonso future update as Liverpool sent sharp message by Bayer Leverkusen chief
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes believes Xabi Alonso will remain at the club next season.
The claim comes amid intense speculation that Alonso could replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. The German will stand down as Reds manager this summer after nine memorable years at Anfield.
With the table-topping Reds still fighting on four fronts this campaign, Klopp dropped that bombshell last month. Alonso, meanwhile, continues to impress at Leverkusen.

The German side remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga, and they routinely swept aside Bayern Munich on Saturday evening to move five points clear at the summit with 13 games to play. Bayern have won 11 straight Bundesliga titles, while Leverkusen have never lifted that particular trophy.
Following that jaw-dropping victory, Rolfes was pressed on Alonso's future and asked if the Spaniard would be at the club next season, and he replied: "Yes, I'm sure."
Speaking to SPORT1, he continued: "One [reason] is the contract. The other thing is how comfortable he feels, the family, himself and that he knows what he has in the club.
"He also has a very good team, we will have a very good perspective next year and there's no change in the team. We will definitely have a top team available next year. These are all points that - in addition to contracts - coaches like Xabi, but also players who [attract] interest, often stay with us."
