Vinai Venkatesham will leave his role as chief executive at Arsenal next summer after 14 years, the club have confirmed.
"This was a tough decision, but it is time to pursue another challenge," he told the club website. "Now is not the time for goodbyes as I remain focused until my last day and supporting a seamless transition."
"While it is business as usual with everyone focused on the season ahead, we’d like to take this moment to thank him for his contribution and long service. Vinai will always be part of the Arsenal family and always welcome back at Emirates Stadium.
“Change and succession is something the club is well prepared for. The Board remains committed to our strategy and will address leadership change as we continue to drive the club forward.”
In May, Smith earned another promotion to president of the Rapids, extending his stay to 2026. However, a move to one of Europe's biggest leagues could be the next step for the Rapids president. Josh Kroenke has already gone on record to speak highly of him, offering a taste of what could be expected of him. "Padraig has led the club with great distinction over the past five years and has built a strong foundation on which we can continue to grow both on and off the field," he said.
"He brings a level of expertise and leadership to the organisation that is grounded in his extensive experiences in Europe and the US, and we believe he is the ideal person to help us achieve our goals as an organisation, and in particular, our goal of bringing another MLS Cup to Colorado."
