Another international break is just around the corner. After the next weekend of fixtures, the Premier League will go on pause for a week as international matches return, with England due to take on Brazil and Belgium.
The break could halt Arsenal's impressive run of form, with the Gunners currently on a run of six straight wins. They can make that eight straight wins with victory over basement boys Sheffield United tonight and then Brentford in the Saturday evening clash.
That would be some form to halt with an international break, but they could be heading into said international break top of the table. Two wins out of two would not guarantee top spot, but will guarantee at least second position and depending on what happens elsewhere could see the Gunners top of the pile and in the driving seat for the Premier League title heading into the final two months of the campaign.
That is because there is a rather large clash taking place at Anfield on Sunday, with the other two title challengers facing off against one another. Liverpool host Manchester City in what is a mouth-watering Super Sunday clash.
Arsenal would be top prior to kick-off in that game, by virtue of playing beforehand, providing they beat the Blades tonight and the Bees on Saturday of course. But they could stay there if previous fixtures between Liverpool and City are anything to go by.
The omens are good for Arsenal, with four of the last seven matches between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola's teams ending in stalemate. There have been two 2-2s and two 1-1s in the last four seasons.
