Arsenal fans troll one of their own for 'absolutely pointless' shirt swap

An Arsenal fan has been trolled by his own supporters on social media after swapping shirts with a Porto supporter after Tuesday's Champions League clash.

The Gunners ended their 14-year wait to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals as they overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit and inflicted an agonising defeat on their Portuguese opponents.

David Raya's penalty shootout heroics ensured the Emirates hosts advanced to the next stage of Europe's top club competition alongside Manchester City.

Furious scenes erupted on the pitch at the end of the game as Mikel Arteta and Porto boss Sergio Conceicao clashed with the latter, accusing the Arsenal manager of insulting his family.

However, that wasn't the case in the stands as an Arsenal supporter situated near the away section generously swapped shirts with a travelling Porto fan.

Stewards at the game clapped the show of respect, but Arsenal fans online were less than impressed, with some ridiculing the spectacle as 'absolutely pointless'.

The exchange might have been heart-warming for some, but replacing the replica home strip will set the fan back a cool £80, or £110 for the club's 'authentic' shirt.

Meanwhile, Porto tops marking the Champions League tie against Arsenal are priced at £72 on the club's official website.

Commenting on the viral footage, one X user stated: 'Football is over. I don't recognise it anymore'.

Another simply said: 'Weirdos', while a third reaction commented: 'Absolutely pointless. Going to have to pay another £60 for a new arsenal top.'

One fan took a completely different view by explaining: 'Better than fake tough guys in snide stone island acting like it's the 19 80s.'
