Aston Villa make improved third bid for Middlesbrough's Morgan Rogers
Aston Villa have made an improved bid for Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers after their opening two proposals were rejected by the Championship club.
Manchester City are due a sell-on fee if the 21-year-old, who cost Boro £1million in the summer, leaves.
Villa have also made an approach for Iceland goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson from Swedish top-flight side Elfsborg.
The 22-year-old said: ‘It’s a top club in the Premier League and they play very well. It’s great to see that they are interested. It shows that I played well last season.’
Middlesbrough rejected Villa's first two proposals, but Unai Emery is a huge fan, and Rogers was impressive whilst playing against them in the FA Cup at the start of the month.
Rogers was born in Halesowen, just outside Birmingham and made one substitute appearance at West Brom before joining Manchester City in 2019.
However, he never played a senior game for Man City, instead experiencing loan spells at Lincoln, Bournemouth and Blackpool.
Rogers has made 31 appearances for Middlesbrough this season, scoring six times, helping Michael Carrick's side into the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
Middlesbrough take a 1-0 lead into the second leg against Chelsea on Tuesday night.
Blues star Cole Palmer is close friends with Rogers, and did a celebration that followed that of the Middlesbrough star's when he scored against Luton last month.
