Nicolas Jackson has insisted the Chelsea squad remain unified despite dropping points against Manchester City in the race for Champions League qualification. Raheem Sterling fired the Blues ahead at the Etihad Stadium before Pep Guardiola's side eventually found an equaliser in the final minutes.
The 22-year-old striker played a crucial role for Chelsea on Saturday evening, crafting the opener shortly before half-time. He found Sterling with a brilliant cross before the England international cut back inside onto his favoured right foot and beat Ederson.
Late into the second-half, Jackson could have doubled his tally had Enzo Fernandez not picked his pocket. A pass from Christopher Nkunku fell kindly on the edge of the City box and, as the Senegal international lined up to shoot, the midfielder lashed his strike wide of the mark.
Jackson was absolutely fuming – and he made sure Fernandez knew just how upset he was. The duo eventually pulled together in the final moments of the tie, steering Chelsea to safety and claiming a huge point in the race for top-four.
Taking to Instagram after the game, Jackson marked the victory with a celebratory post to his story. The striker posted two pictures of the Chelsea squad in a huddle with the caption: «One team, one family. Lets go Blues [blue heart emoji.»
He also posted a slideshow of images to his profile with the caption: «Well played lads. We deserved better but we keep fighting for each other.»
