Bukayo Saka has issued an apology to Kostas Tsimikas after the Liverpool star broke his collarbone.
Arsenal and Liverpool's top of the table clash ended in a 1-1 draw, with Gabriel putting Arsenal ahead before Mohamed Salah equalised for the home side, a result which means the Gunners occupy top spot in the Premier League at Christmas.
One of the main flashpoints in the game came just after the half an hour mark, though. Saka and Tsimikas battled for the ball near the dugouts and the Greek was sent flying into Jurgen Klopp before landing awkwardly on the turf.
Klopp told Sky Sports that Tsimikas' collarbone was 'definitely broken' as a result.
In what is already a tough festive period for many clubs with injuries piling up, Tsimikas is now expected to be out for some time. Andy Robertson is not returning until the new year, which means Liverpool will likely turn to Joe Gomez to fill in at left-back until either one is fit again.
After the game, Saka said sorry for his role in the incident, stating: «I heard he has gone to hospital so obviously I want to apologise to him, I didn’t mean it of course.
»For me it was a 50/50 and I have gone shoulder to shoulder with him. I didn't see it but he must have taken a bad fall, I didn't see him go into Jurgen Klopp either.
«I was focused on running forward because I didn’t think it was a foul. That's my take on it.»
Klopp also stated he wasn't personally injured by the incident, but that he'd have happily broken his own collarbone if it meant his star was unharmed.
The Greek international was sent to hospital after the incident.
Speaking about the result, Klopp said: «It was massively overshadowed by Kostas Tsimikas collarbone issue, definitely broken, so he is out for a long time.
