Calum Kavanagh, son of ex-Ireland midfielder Graham, was today handed his Championship debut for Middlesbrough.
The 20-year-old striker came on for one of his Dad’s former clubs as Michael Carrick’s side slipped to defeat at basement side Rotherham United.
Kavanagh has earned promotion to the first-team fray for his exploits in the club’s U21 team, 15 goals in 11 games, following up his recent League Cup bow with this cameo on the big stage.
The precocious talent has rejected offers to switch his allegiance to England and is fast-tracking through the Irish underage ranks.
