Chelsea have announced they will offer free travel to fans who buy a ticket for their Premier League clash at Wolves on Christmas Eve.
The Blues will make the journey to Molineux on December 24 to play the first fixture on such a date since 1995.
Amid concerns over transport to the match over the festive period, the decision has been met with huge backlash from fans.
The Chelsea Supporters' Trust responded to the initial reports of the scheduled date as 'deeply worrying', with the fixture now confirmed.
Barring a late change in the schedule, Mauricio Pochettino side and their fans will head up to Wolverhampton on Christmas Eve.
In order to help supporters on their travels, Chelsea announced on Monday that those who buy a ticket will be offered free travel.
«The club is aware that transport options are more limited than usual on this date, as it is a Sunday and also Christmas Eve,» the club said.
«We recognise the commitment of our match-going supporters and appreciate the unwavering loyalty they give to watching the team, home and away.
»Therefore, as a sign of appreciation for fans making this trip, Chelsea Football Club will be offering free travel as a goodwill gesture to anyone who purchases a ticket.
«Coaches will be available to take supporters to and from the match at no cost, available to book when match tickets go on sale.»
The last Christmas Eve fixture in the Premier League took place in the 1995/96 season when Leeds beat Manchester United 3-1.
Wolves and Chelsea's clash kicks off at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon, with both sides playing matches the weekend prior.
The Blues, however, will play a Carabao Cup quarter-final in between then should they beat Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.
