Carney Chukwuemeka has revealed Cole Palmer told him before the match that he would assist him in Chelsea's victory against Leicester City last weekend.
The Blues escaped a scare against the Foxes to ensure a place in the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will take on the tournament favourites Manchester City. With the match level at 2-2, after a fightback from Leicester, Chukwuemeka combined really well with Palmer to put Chelsea back ahead. Noni Madueke wrapped up the game moments later with a piece of individual magic.
Such a move that led to Chukwuemeka's second goal of the season – and for Chelsea – showcased a real sense of understanding between the midfielder and Palmer. And by the sounds of it, it is not a fluke.
«Even in training, we are always finding each other and linking well,» Chukwuemeka said to Chelsea's official website of his relationship with Palmer. «So as soon as I played it to Cole, I knew I was getting it back.
»He even told me before the game that when I came on, he would assist me. So we have that combination together and we can build on it.
«It was an amazing feeling, honestly. I didn't know what to do after I scored, how to celebrate. But I've got great teammates who pushed me towards the fans.»
