However, following a VAR check, referee Chris Kavanagh was instructed to go to the pitchside monitor to look at a possible offside. The goal was eventually disallowed after Wataru Endo was adjudged to be in an offside position while blocking Levi Colwill during the set piece.

Mere minutes after the goal was disallowed, Jota posted a message on social media. The Liverpool No.20 simply wrote "Uau" - which translated from Portuguese to English means 'Wow'.
Jota was not involved in the game at Wembley Stadium as he continues to recover from a knee injury. The 27-year-old suffered the knock in Liverpool's 4-1 win over Brentford last week.
Jota was one of 11 first-team players who were sidelined due to injury for the Reds. Jota is alongside Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, Joel Matip and Ben Doak, all of whom are currently unavailable.
During the game, Liverpool potentially had another player added to the injury list. Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off the pitch after a tackle from Chelsea's Moises Caicedo, with what appeared to be an ankle injury.
