Edu's son spotted with key Arsenal transfer target as summer theory emerges

Arsenal transfer theories are in full flow once more after Edu Gaspar's son, Luigi, was pictured at dinner with long-term midfield target Douglas Luiz on Tuesday night. The Gunners have been keen on signing the Aston Villa man for over two years may well go back in for him over the summer as they look to add options to Mikel Arteta's squad.

Luiz came close to joining in 2022 after a deadline day bid for the Brazilian was rejected by Villa. With former Arsenal midfielder, and now sporting director, Edu leading the charge, the admiration is understandable.

The pair played together at a charity event in Daggenham last summer alongside Tottenham duo Richarlison and Emerson Royal. As part of a growing South American and Brazilian contingent in the Premier League and London, their paths continue to cross.

Luiz has only gone on to enhance his standing at Villa as well, already scoring nine times from midfield. No player in his position has scored more this season either, and Luiz can also add four assists to his name as well.

Now, as Villa look to compete for the Champions League spots — they are only six points off Arsenal in the table with 12 games to go — Luiz has been catching up with his friends. Although there is likely nothing to the scenario, it has fan theories written all over it.

At a restaurant, presumably in London, Luiz is seen alongside Luigi Gaspar — who plays for Watford — as well as Emerson, Vissel Kobe forward Lincoln Correa, and Brazilian player Gustavo Santana. For both parties it is almost certainly nothing to read into regarding transfers, but that may not pleased Gunners fans.
