Ruben Amorim is ready for ‘a challenge like Liverpool’ believes former Reds midfielder Joao Carlos Teixeira.
Liverpool are in the market for a new manager ahead of Jurgen Klopp stepping down in the summer. However, they are set to miss out on Xabi Alonso after the Spaniard confirmed last week that he will spurn interest from the Reds and Bayern Munich to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Liverpool midfielder had been the previous front-runner to succeed Klopp, with Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim and Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi now two of the leading candidates to take over.

Teixiera joined the Reds from the Sporting Lisbon academy in an £830k deal in January 2012, and made seven appearances under Klopp in the 2015/16 season before returning to Portugal at the end of his contract.
Now playing in China with Shanghai Shenhua, the Portuguese inevitably continues to follow the progress of both of his former clubs. And while he points out Amorim would implement a different style to Klopp, should Liverpool look to appoint the Sporting manager, Teixeira is convinced that his compatriot is ready for a switch to the Premier League - but has warned he would need time to adapt.
